Terms of service

These terms govern your use of carsaledoc.com ("the service", "CarSaleDoc"). By using the service you agree to these terms.

What CarSaleDoc is

CarSaleDoc is software that helps you generate a Vehicle Bill of Sale for a private (peer-to-peer) used-car sale in the United States. It does not transfer title, register the vehicle, collect sales tax, or replace the official DMV paperwork your state requires. CarSaleDoc is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for entering accurate information about yourself, the other party, and the vehicle. You are responsible for following your state's DMV rules to complete the title transfer and registration. You are responsible for paying any sales tax owed to your state. CarSaleDoc cannot help you if you enter false information or if either party refuses to sign.

Fees

Creating a draft is free. Unlocking the final signed PDF costs $4.99 USD, paid via Stripe. The fee is per agreement, not per user. If you start a new agreement you will be charged again. We do not store your card number — Stripe does.

Refunds

If your PDF was not generated or is materially unusable (corrupted, missing parties, missing signatures), email support@carsaledoc.com within 14 days of payment and we will refund your $4.99. We do not refund agreements that were generated successfully but that you simply changed your mind on, because the agreement contains personal data that has already been delivered to the other party.

Acceptable use

Do not use CarSaleDoc to commit fraud, forge documents, impersonate another person, or attempt to title a stolen vehicle. Do not interfere with the service (rate limiting, DDoS, scraping). We can suspend any account that violates these rules.

Intellectual property

The CarSaleDoc product, brand and UI are ours. The PDF you generate is yours — you can print it, share it, and store it freely. State DMV form references (MV-912, REG 135, Form 130-U, HSMV 82050) are property of their respective state agencies.

Limit of liability

CarSaleDoc is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g., a buyer rejecting the deal, a DMV asking for additional paperwork).

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA. Disputes will be resolved in the state and federal courts of Delaware.

Changes

When we update these terms we will note the date below. Last updated: February 2026.
