Privacy policy
This privacy policy explains what personal information CarSaleDoc ("we", "us") collects when you use carsaledoc.com, why we collect it, how long we keep it and how you can ask us to delete it. It is written in plain English and reflects how the product actually works.
What we collect
When you use the wizard we collect the buyer and seller names, addresses, driver's license numbers, the vehicle details you enter (VIN, plate, year, make, model, odometer, sale price), the digital signatures both parties draw, the buyer/seller email addresses we send the PDF to, and any payment metadata that Stripe shares with us after a successful payment (transaction ID, last 4 digits of the card, country, billing email).
What we do NOT collect
We do not store your full card number — Stripe handles that on their PCI-DSS Level 1 infrastructure. We do not run analytics that fingerprint you across sites. We do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers.
How we use it
We use the data you enter to (1) generate your bill of sale PDF, (2) deliver the PDF to the email addresses you provide, (3) charge $4.99 via Stripe, and (4) operate the service (fraud prevention, customer support).
Who we share it with
Stripe (for payment processing), SendGrid (to deliver your PDF email), and OpenAI (only the driver's license image you upload during ID scan, processed transiently for OCR). We do not share data with anyone else.
Cookies
We use a single first-party cookie to keep your wizard draft alive while you fill it. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Retention
Wizard drafts and completed agreements are retained for up to 12 months so you can re-download your PDF. After 12 months we delete the agreement and its signatures. Stripe records are kept for the legal retention period required for accounting.
Your rights (CCPA / GDPR)
You can email privacy@carsaledoc.com to (a) get a copy of all the data we hold about you, (b) ask us to correct it, or (c) ask us to delete it. We respond within 30 days. If you are in California, you have CCPA rights; if you are in the EU, you have GDPR rights — both are honored regardless of where you live.
Children
CarSaleDoc is not directed to children under 18. Private vehicle transactions in every US state require the parties to be adults.
