Florida HSMV 82050 — Notice of Sale and Bill of Sale
Florida is the only US state that publishes a single combined form for both functions: Form HSMV 82050 — Notice of Sale and/or Bill of Sale for a Motor Vehicle. The top half documents the sale (bill of sale: parties, vehicle, price, odometer, signatures). The bottom half is the Notice of Sale that the seller files with FLHSMV to release liability for the vehicle.
What's on Form HSMV 82050
- Vehicle details: VIN, year, make, body type, title number, current odometer.
- Seller's full name, address and signature.
- Buyer's full name, address and signature.
- Sale price and date of sale.
- Notice of Sale section — seller's certification that the vehicle has been sold, including buyer's name and address.
How to file the Notice of Sale (Form 82050 bottom section)
- Online (recommended, free): visit flhsmv.gov MyDMV portal → 'Submit a Notice of Sale'. Enter the title number, plate, sale date and buyer details.
- By mail: print Form HSMV 82050, fill in both halves, sign and mail to the FLHSMV address listed on the form.
- Keep your confirmation page / certified mail receipt as proof.
- Best practice: file the Notice of Sale the SAME DAY as the sale closes, not 'within 30 days'.
